Enter point A and point B into the Spheric geometry calculator and navigation aid and it will calculate the distance between those points. The distance will be displayed in miles, nautical miles, or kilometers. You can choose the unit used by the application. On top of that, if you define a great arc and a point, Spheric will calculate the distance between them. This is the functionality you can expect to get from this Andrzej Wrotniak-developed application.

Should you decide to give Spheric a try, you must first download a 796KB executable; getting such a lightweight file off the web and onto your PC will take but a moment. Then you must run that executable and follow the instructions presented to you by a setup wizard; going through this process will also take little time.

The pane to the left on Spheric’s interface presents all the points you’ve entered. Next to it, to the right, there are buttons for various functions the application can perform. And underneath it there are buttons for adding more points, editing existing points, and deleting the points you no longer need.

Want to know the distance between point A and point B? Enter those points into the Spheric application and it will calculate the distance between them. The application also includes great arc calculations as well as azimuth calculations. The application will compute the distance between two points if you define a great arc and a point, and it can find an azimuth from one point to another.

Spheric is free to use; the trial version has limited functionality to offer.

Get Spheric if you need a simple yet efficient spherical geometry calculator.

Pros

Getting Spheric up and running requires little effort and can be done in little time. Geodesic distance, elliptic great arc distance, and azimuth calculations are supported. Load data from ASCII files.

Cons

Limited functionality in the trial version.
